Waiting for a parade

What a good life when you've got Grandma in Alaska by your side, and bags in hand as you wait for the 4th of July parade to begin. (At least that's what our kids were thinking!) Before the parade the announcer asked for some of the kids in the audience to come forward and tell what they most enjoyed about the 4th of July. Most responded with enjoying their freedom or something along that avenue. I asked our kids what they thought. Fabian replied emphatically, "the candy!" (Perhaps a few more lessons in patriotism are in store for the boy. Seriously!)We actually forgot to bring a bag for Luis and he seemed to figure out he was getting passed by after that first piece of candy was handed out. That was about the time he grew tired of wearing his hat so Grandma took hold of his hat which then doubled as candy holder. The little guy was excited then! It was a fun day! We were happy their Grandma was there to spend it with us even though we broke one of her chairs and she got a little sunburned at the picnic.
